![]() Click image for larger view Here's how Juke AID software/hardware solutions can solve many network storage needs and reduce network downtime. Juke AID is a proprietary NLM technique that is compatible with NetWare versions 3.12 and 4.x. Juke AID's NLM software is comprised of several modules-a Jukebox Manager, NetWare device drivers, and front-end utility modules. Through Juke AID's utility modules, multiple cartridges are imported to the jukebox as a single, logical set. Juke AID sets are recognized by the NetWare operating system as logical devices that can further be partitioned in NetWare Volumes. Because the network administrator has complete control over set and volume size, jukebox capacity can be easily organized and assigned to multiple functions, such as backup and/or file storage. CENTRALIZED JUKEBOX MANAGEMENT The Jukebox Manager module keeps track of SCSI host adapters, jukeboxes, mounted sets, and a host of other important statistics useful for jukebox management is centrally controlled via the NetWare file server. No client-side software installation is required to begin accessing data. Juke AID and NetWare are all that's needed. In addition, the Jukebox Manager interface was specifically designed to match the feel of the NetWare operating system and its utilities, so learning to use the Juke AID is extremely easy. Juke AID, you'll be configuring sets and mounting volumes in minutes. Overall Jukebox performance and reliability are optimized by the device driver modul's patented algorithm and disk caching techiques. By reducing disk swapping and mechanical operations, disk and jukebox life expectancy will be maximized. | ||

Juke AID uses an Advance SCSI Programming Interface (ASPI) for communicationwith multiple SCSI host adapters and jukeboxes perfile server. That amounts to unparalled scalability. Only Juke AID has diagnostic utilities that warn network adminstrators of potential problems with an optical jukebox and its media. These advance utilites detect media defects and test the jukebox's optical drive and robotics mechanisms, providing essential information for assessing the wellbeing of stored data. |
![]() SECURITY AND RIGHTS Juke AID software provides the opportunity to password protect sets at the work device level. Network devices can also be mounted as read-only to protect against unauthorized modifications. With Juke AID, network volumes can also be assigned user-level trustee rights. As a result, jukebox capacity can be divided to match an organization's structure and assigned to ensure confidentiality and data integrity.

| WHY MAGNETO-OPTICAL? |
|
Unlike traditional magnetic disk or tape technologies, magneto-optical media is based on an innovative thermo-magnetic recording technology. For a variety of reasons, including the non-cotact optical read/write head and thermally activated recording layer, magneto-optical disks are the most reliable, rewritable direct access media available. Today's double-sided cartridge capacity now reaches 2.6 GB - that's 1.3 GB of uncompressed capacity on-line at once. And at just pennies per mega-byte, these expansive disks are an extremely cost effective choice for long-term data storage.
WHAT'S AN OPTICAL JUKEBOX? Picture magnet-optical media in an automatic disk changer unit - with a drive(s), picker, and media slots - and you've got an optical jukebox. Mitsubishi Chemicla optical jukeboxes are SCSI devices designed to hold from 16 to 238 disks and up to 12 drives. All but the JA-40 unit have a dual picker mechanism to swap cartridges efficiently and guarantee access to date in just seconds. |
